This Sunday, 24th November 2013 is a date that will remain unforgotten not only for the Universal Church, but also for the Order of the Pious Schools in general and most especially for the Province of Central Africa. In effect, three great events marked this day: First of all, the whole Church celebrated the Solemnity of Christ, King of the Universe that which closes the Liturgical Calendar of the Year C. Secondly was celebrated in union with the Holy Father, the Year of Faith. And lastly, and of course, that which marked the life of the Order of the Pious Schools in Central Africa was the Temporal Religious Profession of Brother Michel Blaise Marie of Our Lady of the Pious Schools.
After a considerable period of time, Michel has decided wholeheartedly to offer himself to God through the Profession of the Evangelical Counsels of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience, and in conformity with Obedience, his Dedication especially to the Education of children. (Cf. C.19) The event took place in the Church of Menteh in the presence of the Provincial Superior of Central Africa, Fr Javier Negro Marco and in front of the people of God of St Gabriel Mission Station-Menteh.
During the Holy Mass that was presided by Fr Evaristus Akem Ndi, Master of Novices and concelebrated by Fr Provincial, the Superior of the Community of Menteh and many other Frs, Michel Blaise was urged to learn from Christ’s kingship, that of total humility and obedience. He was also reminded of the great love the whole Order of the Pious Schools has for him, for his precious gift to God and especially to the care of the children and young people of our time. In order to make this triple celebration more colourful, the Scholastics of Our Lady of Africa Formation House took upon themselves the initiative to sing the Mass. Besides, it was for them the opportunity to show their concern to their younger brother in their own way.
It is good to note that none of the three events was forgotten, for before the solemn blessing, time was allocated for the procession with the Blessed Sacrament so as to remind ourselves of the 34th Sunday of the Liturgical Year, Solemnity of Christ the King. After the Procession that led all the faithful round the landscape of Menteh, the final blessing was given by Fr Evaristus inside the Church. And finally, practical indications were given to organize the continuation of the feast with the parents, friends and relatives who came to join Br Michel Blaise and the Order of the Pious Schools to celebrate this great day.
May the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph Calasanz all intercede for us.
